The battalion commander offered to pay his subordinates for the opportunity to remain and serve in the rear.
In Transcarpathia, a battalion commander and his accomplice were detained, demanding money from the military for service in the rear. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General on Tuesday, September 24.
Suspicion was reported to the battalion commander and a soldier of one of the military units.
According to the investigation, for $1,300, the battalion commander, who engaged the soldier as an intermediary, had to ensure that another subordinate was included in the list of military personnel who remained for subsequent service in Transcarpathia – in the rear area.
To realize these intentions, the lieutenant colonel tried to bribe senior management – he offered $5,000 for several military personnel.
The intermediary soldier was exposed after receiving a second tranche of improper benefits of $800, and his leader was exposed when handing over $5,000 in bribes. Both suspects were detained.
The court chose preventive measures for them in the form of detention with the right to bail. The involvement of other persons in the corruption scheme is being verified.
